Culpeper vs DevLan - World Series

Game 1.    Yankees 8    Minute Men 3

 

 DevLan jumps out early with 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Brandon Belt started off with a leadoff double, followed by a one-out rbi double by Mike Yastremski.  Will then hit a 2-run HR scoring Yaz. Yanks take 3-0 lead

 Bobby Dalbec gets the Minute Men on the board with a solo HR in the second to cut the lead 3-1

 Anthony Santander hits a 2-run HR to score Mitch Moreland who walk to tie the score 3-3 thru the top of 3rd.

  In the bottom of the 4th Brandon Belt starts the inning off with a walk followed a single putting runners on 1st and 2nd, then after a fly out Will Smith the hits his 2nd HR of the game with a 3-run HR giving the Yanks a 6-3 lead

 Didi Gregorius and Brandon Belt both hit RBI doubles in the bottom of the 7th for some insurance runs making the score 8-3.

Mike Mayers and Oliver Perez shutout the Minute Men and the Yanks take game one 8-3

Game 2.    Yankees 3    Minute Men 1

 

The Yankees start out taking the early lead again with a solo HR from Brandon Lowe in the 1st inning

 The Yankees strike again in the bottom of the 3rd. Didi Gregorius starts off with a leadoff single, Brandon Lowe  the doubles him in and Lowe scores as Cruz reaches base on a error making the score 3-0

Neither team scores until the top of the 9th when Bobby Dalbec hits his second solo of the series but the Minute Men cant score again making the final score 3-1

Game 3     Minute Men 7    Yankees 2

 

The Yankees Jump out early again as Mike Yastremski opens with a sinlge  and Will Smith hits his 3rd HR of the series giving the Yanks a 2-0.

The bottom of the 1st inning saw Sal Perez hit another solo HR cutting the lead to 2-1

The Minute Men exploded in the bottom of the 2nd with 4 runs Mookie Betts Hits a solo HR, Cesar Hernandez singles and Byron Buxton reaches on an error by Darin Ruf putting runners on 1st and second. Jared Walsh then hits a 3-run HR giving the Minute Men a 5-2, which they never relinquished. In the 7th the Minute Men adds 2 runs on a solo HR by Walsh, his 2nd of the game and a RBI single by Sal Perez scoring Tim Locastro who had singled, making the final score 7-2

A very low scoring game in game 4. the two teams only having 4 hits between the 2 of them

 

Bryon Buxton hits a solo HR in the 2nd and Eugenio Suarez hits a solo HR in the 6th, which proves to be the winning hit

The Yankees can only manage 2 hits with one being a solo HR by Didi Gregorius

Game 5    Minute Men 3    Yankees 2

 

The Minute Men take a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Eddie Rosario leads off with a solo HR and Carlos Correra hits an RBI double scoring Cesar Hernandez who had also doubled

The Yankees tie the game up in the top of the 4th with another 2-run HR by Will Smith scoring Mike Yastremski who had walked

The lead was short lived as Bryon Buxton hits a solo HR in the bottom of the 4th giving the Minute Men a 3-2 lead, which proved to be the winning hit and final score

The Yankees had a couple opportunities as the had bases loaded with NO outs in the 6th and get nothing and then in the 8th have runners on but are not able to score. Yusmeiro Petit shuts the Yanks out in both innings

Minute Men lead series 3-2

 

 

Game 6     Yankees 2   Minute Men 1    10 innings

 

Another low scoring game here but both teams had several chances

 

The Yanks take an early lead with Jesse Winker hitting a solo HR  in the bottom of the 3rd inning, giving the Yankees a 1-0 lead

The Minute Men come right back in the top of the 4th tying the game at 1-1 Anthony Rendon started the inning of with a single and with one out Mitch Moreland hits and RBI double scoring Rendon

There was no more scoring in the game until the bottom of the 10th. Jesse Winker starts the inning off with a walk and Nelson Cruz singles him to second, putting runners on 1st and 2nd. Bo Bichette then follows with a game winning RBI double scoring Winker, giving the Yankees the 2-1 Win and tying the series at 3-3

Game 7   Yankees 5   Minute Men 3

 

The Minute Men start off the scoring with a solo HR by Eugenio Suarez in the top of the second making the score 1-0. 

The Yankees take the lead, that they never relinquish, with 3 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Darin Ruf starts the scoring off with a solo HR and the Mike Yastremski hits a 2 run HR scoring Brandon Belt, who had walked making the score 3-1

In the bottom of the 4th inning Ian Happ hits a solo HR increasing the Yanks lead to 4-1.

The Minute Men cut the lead to 4-3 with back to back Solo HR's by Anthony Santander and Anthony Rendon in the 8th inning

In the bottom of the 8th inning Brandon hits a solo HR making the score 5-3 

 

Mike Mayers the shuts down pinch hitters, Willi Castro, Jared Walsh walked, Sal Perez and Byron Buxton. Giving the Yankees the series win and their FIRST EVER World Series Championship

Culpeper vs County Road Rnd 2

Culpeper MinuteMen traveled to County Road in 2nd round playoff series to decide who faces DevLan in the World Series.  Games were played via Zoom on Saturday January 15.

 

Game 1 (CR Home)

County Road gets runners in scoring position in both the first and second innings but fail to push them across home plate.  In the 3rd inning County Road finally gets on scoreboard on a Smith walk and a Home Run by Rios to go up 2-0.  Tatis singles in D'Arnaud in the 4th to make is 3-0.  Bieber is cruising along holding Culpeper scoreless until the 7th inning.  Dalbec leads off the inning with a Home Run and Moreland doubles in Hernandez to cut it to 3-2 after seven innings.  In the 8th inning, Walsh leads off reaching on an error by Tatis and later Castro hits a SF to score him and tie game 3-3.  In the 9th, Santander has a 2 out double and Walsh then hits a 2 run blast to give Culpeper its first lead in the game 5-3.  Hoyt retires Soto, Smith and Rios in order to get the win for Culpeper.

Game 2 (CR Home)

County Road scores first for the 2nd game in a row with two unearned runs in the 3rd.  Smith doubles in Rojas (2B) and Tatis (E6).  Locastro hits a solo HR in the 4th to make it 2-1.  County Road gets a run in 5th on back to back doubles by Tatis and Soto.  Score is 3-1 CR after six innings. The MinuteMen erupt in the 7th with 5 hits and 4 runs on a 2 run single by LoCastro and a 2R HR by Perez.  5-3 Culpeper after 7 innings.  Bottom of 8th starts innocently for Rebels with two ground outs then D'Arnaud walks, followed by a single by Taylor a 2 run double by Rojas and a 2 Run Home Run by Tatis. After dust settles, County Run is up 7-5.  Holland gets the shocked MinuteMen out 1,2,3 in 9th to get the win.

Game 3 (CM Home)

Tatis leads off game with a single and scores on Soto's double to score first for 3rd game in a row.  A solo HR by Jimenez puts CR up 2-0 in top of 4th inning.  Culpeper ties game in bottom of inning when Dalbec walks and scores on Castro's Home Run.  Culpeper gets 3 runs in the 5th when Walsh reaches on error, LoCastro HBP and then a 3 run Home Run by Dalbec.  Culpeper 5-2 after 5 innings.  Dalbec hits another Home Run in the 7th to give Culpeper an insurance run.  Petit holds County Road hitless in final 4 innings to pick up the save.

Game 4 (CM Home)

Wild game and once again County Road scores first in the game in the 1st inning.  Tatis leads off game with a single and stolen base and scores on Smith's single and then Rios hits a Home Run to make it 3-0.  Culpeper answers with 4 runs in the bottom of the inning on a lead off Home Run by Walsh and then Castro hits a Home Run scoring Perez and Dalbec.  Tatis hits a SF scoring Rojas to tie game 4-4 in top of 2nd.  Culpeper gets another 4 spot in bottom of inning powered by a 3R HR by Perez.  Culpeper 8-4 after 2 innings.  Culpeper goes up 9-4 in the 4th on a double by LoCastro and a rbi single by Perez.  County Road gets 3 runs in the 6th on a 2R HR by Machado and a SF by Rojas.  CM up 9-7.  Smith's solo home run in the 7th makes it 9-8 Culpeper.  County Road completes the rally in the 8th on a single stolen base by Rojas a RBI single by D'Arnaud and then a 2R Home Run by Tatis to make it 11-9 CR.  County Roads bullpen pitches 5 2/3 scoreless innings to end game an enable team to rally for win.

Game 5 (CM Home)

Once again County Road scores first with two runs in 1st inning.  Tatis leads off with a walk and scores on Soto's HR.  Culpeper ties game (2-2) in the 6th with Torrens double and a HR by Correa.  Moreland puts MinuteMen up 3-2 in 7th with a Home Run.  Betts hits a 2R HR in the 8th to make it 5-2.  Marisnick hits a solo HR for the Rebels in the 9th but it's not enough as Culpeper holds on for the win.

Game 6 (CR Home)

Rebels score first for the 6th game in a row when Tatis reaches on a error and Marisnick doubles him home.  Culpeper goes up 2-1 in 2nd inning when Rosario hits a Home Run scoring Moreland who had reach base on an error.  The MinuteMen go up 5-1 in the 6th on a 2R HR by Betts and a solo HR by Rosario.  Moreland hits a 2R HR in top of 7th to give Culpeper a 7-1 lead and Rebel fans are in shock.  However, the Rebels are not dead a erupt in bottom of inning to give fans hope of a win and a game 7, Jimenez leads off inning with a double and scores on Taylors Home Run, then Rojas hits a double, Tatis walks and both score on Smith's double and then Marisnick singles him in to make it 7-6.  Culpeper gets a two out double by Santander in top of 9th but Pomeranz is able to get Rendon to ground out to end the inning.  Soto gets the Rebels fans on their feet with a lead off PH double but then Hoyt quiets crowd by striking out Brosseau and Rojas and then gets Tatis to pop up to short to end the game.

CM wins series 4-2 and ends a GREAT SEASON by the County Road Rebels and moves on to face Dixon Division Rival DevLan for the World Series.

 

 

 

 

 

 

West Valley vs DevLan Rnd 2

 

West Valley Isotopes met the DevLan Yankees for a 2nd round playoff match to determine who would be the first team to advance to the Season 49 MDTL Championship series.  Games were played face-to-face with West Valley being proxy by CR mgr Terry Evans as requested by Rick.

Kershaw Ayz vs Kelly Byz

The Isotopes get a runner on early as LeMahieu draws a walk but then unable to score.  Lowe scores from 3rd on a Calhoun error (E9) in bottom 4th for the 1st run of the game/series.  Yankees add 1 more on a Winker soloHR leading off the bottom of the 7th.  Kershaw continues to send the Isotope hitters back to the dugout and when the dust settles he finishes with a No-Hitter!!

Game 2  (DL home)

Darvish Axz vs Wheeler Bz

The Isotopes jump out to the early lead in game 2 as Voit crushes a 2runHR (33-1) with Swanson on 1st.  Lowe hits a soloHR in the 4th to make it a 2-1 game, then Voit answers in the top of the 5th with another 2runHR and a 4-1 lead.  Bottom 7th, Cruz leads off with a soloHR, fatiguing Wheeler and Fairbanks enters the game (B*x).  Winker singles and moves to 3rd on a Happ double.  Winker scores on a sac fly but the rally ends as Biggio hits into a double play.  Fairbanks pitches a scoreless 8th and 9th for the save.


Final score 4-3 WV wins

Game 3 (WV home)

Alcantara By vs Bassitt Ayz

The teams change venues as the West Valley team now becomes the host team.  The Yankees jump out to an early lead on a Lowe 2runHR in the 1st and Yastrzemski scoring on a Bichette single.  Ruff leaves the bases loaded as he strikes out to end the inning.  West Valley strikes back as Swanson scores from 1st on a LeMaheiu double in bottom 1st.  WV strands 2 but score is 3-1.  Top of 3rd, Yankees have 2out rally loading the bases and Ruf comes to the plate again.  This time he leaves the yard with a grand slam and giving the Yankees a big lead.  The Yankees continue to pour it on adding 2 in the 4th, 4 in the 7th and 4 in the 8th against the B* relievers of the Isotopes.  Bassitt and the Yankee pen strand 12 base runners and the game ends in a 17-1 rout.

Game 4  (WV home)

Kershaw Ayz vs Kelly Byz

Will Kershaw be able to pitch another no-hitter?  Not this time.  DevLan opens the scoring as Yaz singles home Belt from 2nd in the top of the 1st.  West Valley responds as LeMahieu singles home Swanson and then scores when Pollock hits a 2runHR.  Top of the 3rd, Yaz and Will Smith hit back to back homers, with Lowe scoring on the first one to give the Yankees a 4-3 lead.  Pollock quickly ties it up with his 2nd HR of the game.  In the bottom 5th, with 2 out, Pollock hits his 3rd HR !! giving the Isotopes a lead.  WV adds 1 in the 6th and DL adds 1 in the 7th for a 6-5 game.  Top of 9th, Plawecki pinch hits for Gregorious and hits a soloHR to tie the game at 6-6.  Game enteres extra innings and scoreless until bottom 11th ... with 2out, Molina walks (Ahmed PR), Swanson single (runners 1st/2nd), the LeMahieu goes deep with a walk off 3runHR and extra inning game winner.

Darvish Axz vs Wheeler Bz

Yankee hitters are hot.  Biggio walk and Lowe HR right away, then Yaz scores on a Happ sac fly for a 3-0 lead.  Bottom 2nd, Canha 2out triple scores Calhoun.  Top 3rd, Smith and Cruz both score on back-to-back sac-flies for a 5-1 lead.  Top of the 5th, Cruz HR, Winker walk and Happ HR make it a 8-1 game.  Ruf 2run double in the 7th plates 2 more for the DevLan team.  Darvish continues to cruis until a LeMahieu pinch hit triple in the 9th fatigue him.  Mayers gets the last 2 outs to end the game.

The teams change venues again.  DevLan heads home with a 3-2 lead and 2 home games only needing to win 1.   West Valley continues to look for consistent offense against the A starters and hoping for the upset after allowing 33 runs in 3 games in their home stadium.

Game 6 (DL home)

Alcantara By vs Bassitt Ayz

Unlike the other games, neither team can get a run in the 1st or 2nd innings.  In top 3rd, Higashioka singles in Goldschmidt and Canha for the early lead.  Alcantara pitches well into the 7th, when the Yankees load the bases with none out.  Ruf hits into a double play that scores Plawecki and fatigues Alcantara and make it 2-1.  Voit hits a soloHR in the 8th and Swanson hits a soloHR in the 9th for a 4-1 lead.  Bottom 9th, Bichette singles and steals to fatigue Fairbanks and bring in Cisnero.  Plawecki moves him to 3rd and Happ singles him home on a 9 but then gets thrown out trying to stretch the single.  Belt strikes out (pH) to end the game.

Game 7  (DL home)

Kershaw Ayz vs Kelly Byz

The Isotopes get a run quickly as Pollock hits a soloHR, his 4th of the series.  Isotopes lead 1-0.  Yankees struggle early stranding 7 baserunners before the 5th.  Bottom of the 5th, Biggio draws a 1out walk the Yastrzemski hits a no doubt 2runHR for a 2-1 Yankee lead.  West Valley hitters struggle again as Kershaw turns 8's and 9's into outs.  In the 7th, Goldschmidt reaches 2nd on a Kershaw error and Kershaw is fatigued.  Mayers enters the game and strands the runner.  Swanson singles and steals in the 8th to fatigue Mayers and Perez enters the game.  Top of the 9th, score 2-1, Pollock leads off with a single, Voit strikes out, Goldschmidt flies out to left and Urshela comes to bat.  32-26 is a weak grounder to 2nd and the game is over.  DevLan wins a nail biter of a series.

shot by Suarez.  McNiel hits a solo HR in 3rd to make it 5-3.  PT gets a unearned run in 5th on a steal of 
3rd by and a throwing error by Perez.  Walsh hits a solo HR in bottom of inning to make it 6-4.  Pitchers
hold both teams scoreless for next 3 innings.  Culpeper rallies to tie game in 9th on a RBI double by Rendon and then Walsh singles him home.  Game goes scoreless until 14th when Cronenworth hits a solo HR but Culpeper ties game in bottom of inning on a Walsh RBI double.  PT blows open game in the 16th inning for the win with 4 runs powered by 2R HR's by Grisham and Story.

Game is a pitchers duel between Plesac and Lamet until Culpeper gets back to back Home Runs by Santander and Rendon in 6th.  PT is held scoreless for 7 innings but rallies for a 3-2 lead in the 8th 

Cooper starts the rally with a pinch hit 2 run HR and Hosmer singles in Grisham who was on second base with a double.  The 9th inning starts quietly for Culpeper with Plesac quickly retiring the first 2 batters in the inning.  Betts then hits a single and then Moreland hits a 2 run HR to put Culpeper up 4-3.  Cronenworth quickly ties game on back to back dice rolls of 11 and the Axemen crowd erupts after having their hearts ripped out in top of inning. Verdugo then hits a double but is stranded at second base when Grisham grounds out to end the inning and send game to extra innings. Hand strikes out Suarez to start the 10th then Hernandez hits a double and then Buxton who had entered game in the 9th for defense hits a 2 run HR to put Minutemen up 6-4.  Story leads up bottom of inning reaching base on a Correa error but after a fielder choice by McNiel, Hosmer hits into a game ending double play to end the game and Culpeper wins the series.  Hoyt get the win.

Providence vs DevLan Rnd 1

​

DevLan Yankees hosted the Providence Grays today to complete their first round playoff matchup today.  Managers were Niel for his Yankee team and Terry Evans sitting in proxy for the Grays.  Pat was there via Zoom and participated some in a few bullpen decisions, but probably wished he was rolling the dice when all was said and done.

Kershaw Ayz vs Lynn Byz

DL starts the scoring in the bottom 2nd with Belt 2out rbi double scores Happ.

Muncy responded in top 3rd with a solo HR.  Cruz 2runHR bottom 3rd makes it a 3-1 Yankee lead.  Hiura 2out rbi double scores Conforto in top 4th for a 3-2 score.

Game remains the same until Muncy double fatigues Kershaw.  Mayers (A*xyz) enters

the game and closes it out.

DL starts the scoring in the 1st with a bases loaded HBP to Winker.

DL jumps to early lead with back to back solo HR in the 1st (Lowe/Yastrzemski).

Game scoreless until bottom 5th when Hicks hits a 2out bases loaded triple to give PG their first series lead.  After that, neither team can manage much other than a Belt

double in the 7th.  Yankees threaten in the 9th with Cruz PH single but Belt leaves

him stranded and Johnson gets the save for the Grays.

DL able to score 2 in the 1st with 3 walks, a sac fly and 2 singles.

No more scores until the 7th when a Belt single scores Biggio from 2nd.

Lowe 2run2b and Smith rbi2b in the 9th add 3 more late to extend the lead.  Kershaw (and Evans' cold dice ) combine to scatter 2 singles over 9 innings holding PG in check.

Yankees score quick again with a Smith 2run single scores Biggio and Lowe in the 1st.

Yastrzemski soloHR adds 1 in the 3rd.  Bichette triple scores Cruz and Smith in the 6th.  Smith hits a 3runHR in the 7th to make it a 8-1.  Bottom 8th, Segura breaks up a no hitter with a lead off 2b.  Segura scores from 3rd on a Muncy grounder to end the shutout.  No runs scored in the 9th.

Hampton vs County Road Rnd 1

Rebels and Wizards meet FTF via Discord today to play their first round playoff series after Hampton won the 1 game playoff 6-0 vs Savannah.

Series was exciting with a lot of ups and downs for both teams.  

 

Game 1

Wizards jump out to an early lead Myers hits a 3runHR with Bader and Trout on base in the 1st.

Trout drives in Bader in the 3rd and a Crawford double scores Springer and sends Bieber to an early exit down 5-0.

Tatis soloHR in the 5th puts Rebels in the game and Jimenez drives in Soto in the 8th to make it 5-2.

Top 9th, Trout hits a 3run bomb after an error walk to extend the lead.  Tatis 2runHR bottom 9th isn't enough.

Final score 8-4.

Game 2

Wizards jump out to an early lead again.  This time Ramirez hits the 3runHR with Bader and Trout on base in the 1st.

SoloHR by Springer in the 5th and soloHR by Bader in the 7th gives the Wizards a 5-0 lead going into the bottom 8th.

Carrasco advances to an Ax but gives up a soloHR to Taylor with 2out in the 8th.

Bottom 9th, down 5-1, Rebels catch fire.

Tatis (soloHR), Soto (soloHR), Smith (f7), Machado (2b), Jimenez (rbi2b), Rios (2runHR) for the walkoff win.

Final score 6-5.

Game 3

Wizards stadium becomes the host.  Rebels strike first with a Smith rbi2b in the 3rd.

Solano 2out triple scores 2 unearned runs bottom 3rd for Wizard lead.  Nimmo answers with a 2runHR in the 4th for a 3-2 lead.

In the 5th, Rebels bat around scoring 4 times on 2runHRs by Machado and Brosseau.  Barnhart soloHR bottom 5th makes it 7-3.

Crawford adds a soloHR, and Bader 2out rbi2b in bottom 7th make it 7-5 and the pressure begins to build on the Rebel pen.

Trout adds a soloHR in the 8th to make it 7-6.  Hendricks entered the game in the 7th and completely shuts the Rebels down.

Bottom 9th, Barnhart and Bader make 2 quick outs the Solano draws the walk bringing up Mike Trout who hits a walk-off 2runHR

for the Wizard win!  Rebels have 14 hits in the loss.

Game 4

Rebels score in the 1st on a Machado double where the Rebels manager forgot to base coach getting Dom.Smith thrown out at 3b.

Rios hits a soloHR in the 2nd and Myers rbi triple adds 1 for the Wizards in the 2nd.

Machado soloHR in the 3rd and Rojas soloHR in the 4th give Rebels a 4-1 lead.
Bieber allows only 2 more hits (no runs) the rest of the game and Crichton closes the game for the save.

Wizards do threaten with 2 on in the 9th and no outs but Ramirez hits into a DP and Myers flys out.

Final score 4-1.

Game 5

Rebels #2 starter Tony Gonsolin was almost unhittable giving up 3 hits and 8K's while pitching the complete game shutout.

Rebel offense exploded scoring runs in 6 different innings.

Rebels hit 6HR in the game including Tellez(1), Machado(2) and Rios hit 3 HR with 6 total rbi.

Hitters 2-6 did all the damage as the rest of the team was 0-18.

Final score 11-0.

Game 6

Rebels head back to their home stadium for the final 2 games.

Tellez starts the scoring with a 2runHR bottom 2nd.  Trout answers top 3rd with a 2runHR scoring Gosselin.

Bottom 3rd, Hill allows a single and 2 walks to load the bases.  Machado sac fly scores Trevino from 3rd then Marisnick 3runHR empties the bases.

Rebels up 6-2 and add 2 unearned bottom 4th and 1 on a Rojas soloHR in the 5th making it 9-2.

The Wizards keep fighting.  Ramirez scores on an error in the 6th but Crichton comes in and shuts them down until the 9th.

Top 9th, Springer pinch hit double scores Soler with 2 out, then Solano pinch hit double scores Springer.

Arenado pinch hits for Gosselin and flys out to end the game.

Final score 9-5.
